Three Ways to Do Hot Chocolate with Sanah Vohra

Because let’s be honest, she would be doing the same… Its that time of the year again when you become best friends with and you suddenly become amazing at procrastinating! And while you stay all glued watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S for the 1900th time or cry watching Grey’s Anatomy or maybe plan strategies while watching The Game Of Thrones, we will help you stay all warm and full with real easy to make Hot Chocolate recipes that you can prepare even during the tiny ad breaks.
1. Classic Hot Chocolate
3/4 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa powder, unsweetened
3 cups milk
150 gms dark chocolate, finely chopped
3 tablespoons sugar
1 Pack marshmallows
Bring ¾ cup water to a simmer in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in cocoa powder until no lumps remain, then add milk and return to a simmer. Whisk in chocolate and sugar and cook, whisking frequently, until mixture is smooth and creamy and chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
Divide hot chocolate among mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallow and sprinkles.
2. White Winter Hot Chocolate
4 cups milk
1 whole vanilla pod
200 gms white chocolate, chopped
cinnamon powder and cinnamon sticks
Place milk in a saucepan with vanilla and cinnamon set over medium heat until simmering. Immediately pour mixture over white chocolate. When chocolate begins to melt, stir to combine. Continue whisking until a light foam forms.
Serve immediately garnished with cinnamon sticks, whipped cream, and chocolate curls.
3. Red Velvet Hot Chocolate
For the hot chocolate:
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon cocoa powder, unsweetened
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon red food coloring
red velvet cake – 1 slice
For the whipped cream:
½ cup cream, chilled
2 tablespoons cream cheese
2 tbsp icing sugar
For the whipped cream: Whisk the cream cheese with sugar till smooth. Add in the whipping cream to the mix and mix gently till firm.
For the hot chocolate: In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until steaming. Reduce heat to low and whisk in cocoa powder. Remove from the heat and whisk in the vanilla and red food coloring.
Pour hot chocolate into 1 or 2 serving glasses . Use a spoon to add in a good dollop of whipped cream cheese. Sprinkle over the red velvet cake crumbs.
