#Self-Love: Ruchira Hoon

From watching her host grand dinner parties to giving her a hand in cooking, Ruchira traces her favorite childhood memory with her grandma who, she believes, was her most significant inspiration in what she does today for a living.

She is now a renowned food blogger and consultant and has been on Masterchef India Season 2 where she made it to the round up of top 12! Being a food blogger and consultant has been a terrific journey for her that allowed her to spread her wings.

“I used to watch my grandmother host these fantastic dinner parties and sit with her making samosas which never stopped being fun!” says Ruchira who believes that this played a key part in the realization of how she wanted to put herself out there in the world. She switched careers at the age of 35 as soon as she realized what her dream really was. If she were to sum up her job and her passion in a one-line statement, she would say, “I love feeding people!”

 

 

A journalist before she started cooking for a living, Ruchira might have switched to being a chef a bit later in life but she points out that it was very early in her childhood that she realized how much she loved feeding people and how happy it made her feel. A cookbook addict with a multitude of cookbooks stacked beautifully around the house, she told us how she initially started cooking out of cookbooks. She realized this is her calling and this is what she really wanted to do. People may debate if this is really self-love but Ruchira reveals how anything that’s being put on the plate is a reflection of her mood, her vibe and her personality.

Having to put up with body weight issues until she learned to embrace and love herself was something that Ruchira had to overcome in order to radiate self-love. When asked what self-love was to her, she says,” Self-love is more about how you’re feeling on the inside rather than how you feel on the outside.”

 

 

As her hands move effortlessly over the yummy looking cake she just baked, Ruchira’s face displays a thousand emotions that show her love for cooking and in turn her love for her own self. After all, self-love is doing what you love and doing a lot of it!
