A Return To Self-Love

Self-love is not selfish.
We all experience the two extremes of self-esteem-
One where you can’t help thinking about your worthlessness,
and the other,
where you’d expect the world to bow down to your greatness.
What do you love? You love the changing skies, the gloomy days and the sunny ones too sometimes, long conversations, tattoos, long drives, and the spontaneous plans. You love your mom, your dad, your personalized pizza, poetry, and your man! How long can you go on without considering if you love yourself? When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said, “I love you.”
Self-love is way above just loving yourself. It is self-awareness over anything else. It’s accepting yourself as a work in progress. It’s loving your self but maybe hating it too sometimes. It may mean a drop in your self-esteem when things don’t go right but also patting yourself on the back when you knock the cover off the ball. It’s not walking on air all the time but embracing all your emotions, your anger, your sadness, your insecurities. It means embracing the whole of you and not just as you are but embracing the fact that you will change and grow every day because that is the beauty of it.
Self-love is way above just loving yourself. It means knowing yourself inside out and to keep growing and blossoming into this beautiful human whom you can love and more importantly like!
Self-love is way above just loving yourself. It is forgiving yourself but only after you’ve punished yourself just the right amount to learn that lesson for life. Self-love does not blind you into thinking that you’re the best. It means accepting your flaws and working on them to become the best of your self!
It is constantly working on your self, your body, your habits, your way of life. It is not selfish! It is keeping yourself a priority by doing what you love, knowing what drives your heart and doing a lot of it. Because if you don’t love yourself, then you may find someone who will but believe me, it won’t ever be as beautiful as you loving yourself.
We at VAJOR want to take the Valentine’s Day as an excuse to remind you of Self-love, the most important kind of love for it isn’t selfish. Let’s stop looking and start seeing through the person that stares back at us in the mirror. Let’s start loving our own self so that we can love others even more.
